Description
Tahoma is a humanist sans-serif typeface designed by Matthew Carter in 1994 for Microsoft Corporation. Initially distributed with Office 97, Tahoma shares similarities with Verdana but has narrower body, smaller counters, tighter letter spacing, and a more complete Unicode character set. Notably, the uppercase 'I' is easily distinguishable from the lowercase 'l', which is beneficial in technical publications. Based on a bitmap font, Tahoma was carefully wrapped with TrueType outlines by Carter, who based the bold weight on a double pixel width. Since 2010, Ascender Corporation has offered italic and small caps versions of Tahoma.

Usage Instructions

Tahoma is well-suited for web and application interfaces, editorial designs, and corporate branding projects due to its clear and distinct letterforms. Use Tahoma in user interfaces where readability is paramount, such as in body text, headings, and call-to-action buttons.
