Description
Originally designed by Dave Crossland during his studies at the University of Reading in 2009, Cantarell was chosen for use in GNOME's 3.0 release and later became the default font for its user interface. The font was maintained and improved upon by several designers over the years, including Pooja Saxena who expanded the language support to Cyrillic. In 2014, due to unavoidable vertical metrics adjustments, a variant of Cantarell named Cambay was published with extended Devanagari script support. Cantarell is characterized by its legibility on screens and a design that has received both praise and criticism within the free software community.
